Olivier Primeau’s press conference delivered more than 1 million impressions

At noon on Thursday February 25th, Olivier Primeau hosted a not-so-traditional type of press conference on his Facebook page with a prerecorded one minute video. In the video he plays both roles; Étienne the beach blogger and Olivier the president of Beachclub. The one minute spot announces that Beachclub will be hosting Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike this summer for a dj set performance.

It’s refreshing to see the businessman take on social media with a full throttle, and seems like it’s really working well for him. Since June of 2015, he has been working really hard at building up a following on social media. Now all that hard work is paying off. Only 48 hours after posting the press conference video to his Facebook page it had delivered more than 1 000 000 impressions, reached more than 500 000 people, and generated more than 200 000 views. 

It’s important to reach a lot of people and deliver a lot of impressions, but it’s even more crucial that the audience reached engages and joins in on the conversation. In this case the subtle humour combined with fast dynamic editing created a sense of excitement and triggered 12 756 engagements and 68 896 post clicks.

Facebook and Instagram ads we’re used to increase the reach of the video to a relevant audience. The video was promoted using sponsored ads targeted towards: 18 to 26 year olds – interested in Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike – living in the province of Québec. The video ads we’re delivered across mobile & desktop newsfeed as well as on Instagram.

Impressions vs Reach – what’s the difference?

Impressions are the number of times a post from your page is displayed, whether the post is clicked or not. People may see multiple impressions of the same post. For example, someone might see a page update in newsfeed once, and then a second time if their friend shares it.

Reach is the number of people who received impressions of a Page post. Reach can be less than impressions since one person can see multiple impressions.

Olivier told me he received a ridiculous amount of positive feedback about the new character Étienne that he introduced in the video. Chances are we will be seeing him again in Olivier’s videos.
